Trashy Doritos Breaded Chicken Tenders
Trashy Doritos Breaded Chicken Tenders: A Kid (and 80/90s adult) Favorite!
I like to get RIGHT to the recipe! See below for instructions and fluff.
Our kids went nuts over these!!
What You Need
· 1 cup crushed Doritos (I use nacho cheese and cool ranch, but use your favorite!)
· 1 egg, lightly beaten
· 2 tablespoon milk (I use half and half)
· 5 boneless, skinless chicken tenders (you can use boneless skinless chicken breasts as well, but I
How To Do It
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray baking sheet with cooking spray | Or you can also Air Fry. (see Alternate Step 4)2. Put crushed chips in a shallow bowl*
3. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk egg and milk until combined. You can also add a little salt and pepper.
4. Dip chicken tenders in egg mixture and then dip in chips, completely coating the chicken. Place on prepared baking sheet and lightly spray tops with cooking spray.
5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until chicken is thoroughly cooked at an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
*I cut a small slit in the top of the one serving Doritos bags and then rolled with a rolling pin until crushed. You can also use a food processor, but this saved a few steps and dishes.
Notes
- Chicken: For these Doritos chicken tenders, you can either buy chicken tenderloins or skinless chicken breasts and cut into fingers.
- Doritos: You will need a small bag of any flavor of Doritos. You can use any flavor of your choosing, cool ranch, sweet spicy chili, or nacho cheese Doritos.
- Milk: Any percentage of milk will work. I recommend whole or 2%. I use half and half because it’s what I always have in stock for my coffee!
- Egg: You will need one egg to mix with milk to use as a binding agent for the Doritos to stick to the chicken.

HOW TO ENJOY
We enjoyed them cut up in street taco shells with a little ranch dressing, lettuce, black olives, and shredded cheddar cheese. They are also great on salads , as a wrap, or dipped in your favorite sauce.
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: PREP
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with olive oil spray.
STEP 2: MAKE DORITO CRUST
I poke a hole in the Doritos bag (small, one serving bags) and roll out with a rolling pin. You can also add to a food processor and pulse the chips until they are a fine crumb and begin to resemble breadcrumbs. Pour them onto a plate or in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk until fully combined. If using chicken breasts, cut whole chicken breast into 1-inch strips.
STEP 3: ROLL CHICKEN WITH DORITOS
Dunk each chicken strip into the milk and egg wash then into the Dorito crumbs. Once you have coated chicken strips in the crushed Doritos place on top of wire rack on the baking sheet. Spritz for little bit of nonstick cooking spray.
STEP 4: BAKE
Bake your Doritos chicken tenders in the oven for 18-20 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check that the chicken is at least 165 degrees. Then remove from oven and serve with your favorite fries and dipping sauce.
ALTERNATE STEP 4:
You can also Air Fry at 380°F for 15 minutes. Gently turn the chicken pieces and spray the tops with oil spray (don’t turn the chicken too rough or the Dorito pieces will fall off). Air Fry for additional 3-5 minutes or until the crust is crispy golden brown and chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

HOW TO STORE THIS RECIPE
Store leftover Doritos chicken tenders in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. They do tend to get a bit soggy, so you can spray with olive oil spray and put in the Air Fryer for a few minutes!
